Defibrillator on Site

The Rowan Tree Surgery now has a Defibrillator on site and stafff have recently been trained in its use.

Defibrillator, device that delivers an electrical shock to the heart in order to stop certain forms of rapid heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias).  The shock changes a fibrillation to an organised rhythm or changes a very rapid and ineffective cardiac rhythm to a slower, more effective one.

They are the only proven way to resuscitate a person who has had a cardiac arrest unwitnessed by EMS who is still in persistent ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia at the arrival of pre-hospital providers.
