Maternity care is shared between GP's and our team of midwives. Booking clinics and regular antenatal checks are carried out here at the surgery, and appointments can be made at reception. Our midwife is here on a Tuesday morning and she works at the Ark Children's Centre on a Friday seeing our patients. We offer shared care, where we look after you before and after the birth, but ask the midwives to deliver your baby in hospital. If you are considering a home delivery, please speak to your midwife or GP early on in your pregnancy.
If you require minor surgery for things such as removal of skin lesions and to deal with abscesses, etc, please arrange an appointment to see your GP and we can refer you to an appropriate clinician. You can also see one of our partners at Clanricarde Medical Centre
Sexual Health Clinic
A confidential and friendly clinic located at the surgery on Mondays 9:00am utnil 5:00pm and Thursdays 11:00am until 5:00pm. The clinic is run by experienced members from Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. For an appointment at Rowan Tree Surgery please call the Rubin Clinic, Department of GU Medicine on 01622 225713 or alternatively there is a walk in clinic at the surgery on a Thursday between 3-5pm.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
NSL Care Services provides non-emergency transport for patients travelling to NHS appointments in Kent and Medway. Patient Transport Services (PTS) are provided for those patients whose medical condition means they cannot get to their appointment in any other way. PTS is a vital resource for those who need it and should not be seen as an alternative to a taxi or as a means to avoid the inconvenience or cost of parking.
It is the policy of the NHS that the Department of Health criteria are applied to all requests for transport. By using these criteria, NSL Care Services makes sure requests for transport are considered fairly and consistently, and transport is available for those people who are clinically enable to get to or from their medical appointments without it.
They provide a range of vehicle types and levels of care appropriate to individual patients' medical needs, to ensure patients travel as safely and as comfortably as possible to their appointments.
Patients NOT eligible for transport are those who:
have their own transport or a friend/relative that could help out, could get to hospital without using PTS if their appointment time/date was changed, or can use public transport.

NSL staff will have information on alternatives and will be able to direct you to information about public transport options and voluntary car organisations.
